Hyde Park Angels has made another investment into Y Charts. We are happy to be co-investing with other partners, Morningstar Financial and the I2A Fund. If you haven’t been to the Ycharts site, you really should go. With all the market turmoil in Asia, Europe, and the United States, Ycharts has positioned itself as a data center and more importantly an in depth information and research center. You can get information delivered to you in a format at Ycharts that you can’t find anywhere else on the web.
Y Charts Gets Next Round Funding
Ycharts allows you to compare different kinds of data, different stocks, and present it in a way that allows you to understand the business in a different way than you might of before. It allows the investor to have more insightful power over their investment decisions. You can also track them better using the Ycharts platform.
To really unleash the power of Ycharts, they built a Ycharts Pro system which is robust and far less expensive than similar offerings in the market. If you own stocks at all, you owe it to yourself to try their pro system. It’s extremely flexible and powerful.
Entrepreneur Shawn Carpenter has built an amazing company. He is a textbook case on how to bootstrap, do more faster, and do it successfully. Ycharts is a classic start up story. They understood their goals and limitations early, pivoted the business, and grew it from nothing into the going concern that it is today. Ycharts is an example of a financial services company that feeds off some of the core strengths of the midwestern marketplace.
HPA was happy to be a part of the initial funding. We are extremely happy to be in this follow up round. Members that participated in the initial round also participated in the second round, and new members that joined the group also participated as well. Congrats to Ycharts! We expect big things from them in the future.
Here is an example of one of their charts. It’s a comparison of the S&P 500, Dow Jones, Nasdaq 100, and Russell 3000 over the past five years on a percentage basis. We added the shadow to show US recessions along with US unemployment($SPY, $DOW, $QQQ, $ES_F).
