Come See Us at 1871

Yesterday, the co-working space 1871 opened up at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago.  Some of our members had a hand in helping it open, most importantly Kevin Willer, who has been an HPA member for over three years.  Kevin helps run our IT/Digital Media Ambassador Circle. In his day job, Kevin runs the Chicago Entrepreneurship Center which will be housed at 1871.

It is an exciting time to be a midwestern entrepreneur.  If you don’t know anything about entrepreneurship, or don’t feel you have the tools to be an entrepreneur, hopefully 1871 will be able to help you out.  They will have programs there, and already Code Academy has moved in and is teaching classes.  Excelerate Labs will make it home as well.

If you aren’t ready for 1871, there are always the resources available at the Polsky Center of Entrepreneurship.

Hyde Park Angels will be sharing 1871 office space with the Polsky Center and one of our sponsors, Horwood Marcus and Berk . We hope you come by and have a cup of coffee with us.  Our office is the first door on the right hand side as you walk in.

The people that started 1871 have a lot to be proud of.  It took a lot of effort to get that space off the ground.  We applaud them, and now will endeavor to support them in their efforts.  In a broader sense, all of Chicago needs to be celebrating too.  There is another dedicated space in the city to grow the next businesses that will propel us into the future.

HPA wants to be a part of that, and we can’t wait to see what you come up with to get us there.
